Overview
Sasol’s HDPE pipe resin is a bimodal, high molecular weight, high density polyethylene resin with excellent processing characteristics. HD4985 is selected by customers for pressure pipe applications including gas distribution, industrial piping, mining, oil and gas gathering, municipal water service lines and sewers. When the HD4985 is blended with an approved black masterbatch, the resulting product formulation HD4985 BK is listed as a PE4710 compound under ASTM standards and a PE100 compound under ISO standards. Customers typically use our material in applications requiring a PE4710 or a PE100 compound for pressure pipe applications.
Sasol’s HDPE film resin is a high molecular weight, high density ethylene-hexene copolymer with very low melt indices (MI2 ranging from 0.05 to 0.075g /10 min) and very broad, multi-modal molecular weight distribution. This resin is designed for blown film applications which require high melt strength, excellent impact and high tensile strength for very thin films for carrying heavy loads, which is required by grocery bags and institutional can liners.
